Who We Are

Who We Are

La Hacienda’s staff believes that providing treatment in a positive, safe environment creates a healing atmosphere. With a capacity for 135 patients, it takes a village of people to produce the kind of environment that welcomes life changes. La Hacienda’s family is made up of about 180 people from Kerr County, San Antonio, Austin, College Station and surrounding communities. Thirty percent of our employees have worked here more than 10 years; 60 percent have been employed here more than 5 years. Our village consists of people committed to patient care as demonstrated by years of loyal service to chemically dependent individuals and their families.

Moreover, we not only talk the talk; many of us have walked the walk! In an anonymous survey taken by our staff in May 2012, 54 out of 101 respondents are in recovery from alcoholism/addiction with a combined total of more than 1,000 recovery years; an additional 11 respondents are in recovery from another addiction, such as codependency, with over 150 combined recovery years.

Those who come to us seeking help for this disease find comfort and strength through the dedication and experience of our staff.

Counselor Intern Program

La Hacienda’s Counselor Intern Program has been training addiction counselors and preparing them to take their certification/licensure exam for so long no one can really recall exactly when it started. Our best guess is around 1982! In the past 30 years hundreds of people, and maybe 1000+, have been prepared for a career in addiction counseling here at La Hacienda. We are an approved Clinical Training Institute by the State of Texas Department of State Health Services and are held to high standards in the training we provide – but La Hacienda takes those standards even higher and provides a training experience that has only a handful of equals, if any, across Texas. Our interns go through two years of rotations in all the various clinical departments on campus, learning from their different counselor supervisors and mentors, and developing their own style as they grow professionally. We have an exceptional pass rate for Texas’ Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor exam and former interns have gone on to hold clinical supervisor, department manager and even executive director positions at La Hacienda and at other facilities around the country. We are proud of the contribution we make here to the addiction treatment workforce – and the long, strong history we have in the intern program!

Executive Team

La Hacienda’s Executive Team is comprised of the Executive Director, Medical Director, Chief Financial Officer, Nursing Services Administrator, Clinical Services Administrator, Board of Directors, Human Resources Administrator, Business Development Director, and the Outpatient Services Administrator. This group of leaders meets on a weekly basis to ensure smooth facilitation of services to our patients. Most of them have worked in the field of alcoholism/drug dependency treatment for more than 20 years, have worked at La Hacienda more than 10 years, and some come to the table with personal recovery experience. All of them are dedicated to our mission of providing treatment and support to maximize recovery for each alcohol/drug dependent patient and their family.
