A Houston native, Chris worked 29 years for Saudi Aramco, first in marine transportation and later in emergency response. Like many Houstonians, he’d always liked the Texas Hill Country and wanted to live here. In recovery himself, Chris also appreciated that Kerrville had strong recovery programs, so he moved here in 2011. In August 2015 he joined La Hacienda’s admissions team. Chris especially likes helping families. “If they’re new to dealing with substance use, they’re often clueless about why an addict or alcoholic behaves in the manner they do.” Part of his job is reassuring incoming patients that, despite all their concerns, they will be OK. “There is something about coming into La Hacienda and releasing your burdens. You can let go, and your higher power will take care of you.”
