Jessica’s interest in substance use disorders started early. In high school she wrote—and defended—a thesis on addiction as a disease. Her education included bachelor’s degrees in biology and nursing, but she wanted to further help patients by working as a treatment provider. She studied with Simmons College of Massachusetts to become a family nurse practitioner. After serving her nursing rotations with La Hacienda in spring 2018, Jessica joined the staff in July 2018. “La Hacienda does a lot of good for people, and I wanted to be a part of that. You get to see how much impact you can make on people’s lives.” She and her husband, Edgar, have two young daughters. Her hobbies include exercise, reading and movies.
