Christi Barguig | La Hacienda

Program Director, La Hacienda’s Solutions

Christi Barguig, Program Director for La Hacienda’s Solutions since July 2022, manages the day-to-day operations and staff of and marketing for the intensive outpatient program located in North Austin.

Solutions provides alcohol and drug addiction treatment services for adults with both in-person groups at the north Austin facility and virtual groups which can be accessed anywhere in Texas.

A Passion for Helping People

Christi has a fervent desire to help people recover from alcohol and drug addiction. She entered the addiction treatment field after she recovered from chemical dependencies.

“After years of causing destruction to myself and others, I felt lost and hopeless,” she says. “It took me a long time to figure out what I was truly passionate about and my purpose in life.”

“As I started to turn my life around, I began looking up to the people who helped me become the woman I am today. I saw something in those people for which I began to strive. As I started reaching out to them, I discovered my purpose and passion–to help others.”

“Seeing the light turn on in someone’s eyes and the life return to them is what I enjoy the most.”

Inspired by a Higher Power

Inspiration from a higher power led Christi to pursue becoming a chemical dependency clinician.

“I had a spiritual experience as the result of working the steps and began sponsoring other alcoholics and addicts. Through that, I discovered a true passion for helping others.”

Christi says life has taught her that “acceptance is the answer to all my problem”– fighting against situations and people is not the best way to solve difficulties.

“I don’t have the power to change anything but myself. When I accept things as they are and stop fighting them, life is easier.”

Degrees in Business, Human Services, and LCDC

Christi holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UT-El Paso and an associate degree in Human Services and her LCDC from Austin Community College.

Working in substance abuse treatment is a second career for Christi. She worked 12 years in sales and sales management in the property and casualty insurance industry.

She came to Solutions after five years as a Clinical Director at Central Texas Treatment Center in Williamson County with experience in the recovery process, rehabilitation, peer-support groups, and 12-step programs.

A Fan of Amy Winehouse and Crime Documentaries

Christi’s musical tastes favor the soul, rhythm and blues, and jazz of the late singer/songwriter Amy Winehouse. True crime documentaries are her favorite TV fare.

She likes exploring Austin’s many restaurants, especially those serving seafood. Freda’s Seafood Grille is her favorite.

Christi and her husband, Sam, have two senior dogs, Lola, a Shih Tzu, and Marley, a Lhasa Apso/Pom mix.
