Dr. James Boone will speak on “Is Addiction a Disease? Substances, Gambling, Food, Sex and Technology –Why Can’t They Just Stop?” during a free public lecture in Kerrville starting at 6 p.m. Monday, July 1 in the auditorium at Kerrville Church of Christ, 1900 Loop 534.
Dr. Boone, the Medical Director at La Hacienda, has practiced addiction medicine with his brother, Dr. Dan Boone, since 2004.
He graduated with honors in 1984 from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and did his internal medicine internship and residency at Baylor University Medical Center. Before coming to La Hacienda, he practiced medicine in Pasadena, Texas.
Dr. Boone and other members of the medical staff meet daily with patients during their treatment at La Hacienda. He also frequently speaks to patients and their relatives during the Family Program about substance use disorder.

“Dr. Boone has a passion for helping persons with addiction experience the fullness of a drug- and alcohol-free life through an active 12 Step recovery,” said La Hacienda Director of Business Development Elizabeth Olson.
