Seventy-five recovery professionals and others interested in the field packed a Recovery to Practice training session at La Hacienda’s Solutions in Austin on March 8.

The free event, through which attendees could earn continuing education credits, was sponsored by the Austin Chapter of the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals (TAAP) through a grant from the University of North Texas.

“The presenters covered the ‘bread and butter’ principals of recovery,” said David Hutts, a La Hacienda Business Development Representative and President of Austin TAAP. “This was our second such event and the attendance doubled.”

Subjects covered included What is Recovery/History of Recovery, Relationships and Recovery, Medication Assisted Treatment, Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, Diverse Populations/Cultural Consideration, Many Pathways to Recovery, and Trauma.

Those participating included chemical dependency counselors, social works, sober house owners, nurses, and students.
