|The Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) hosted the 2017 Public Policy Institute and Hill Day this month on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Twenty national advocacy organizations and the National Council for Behavioral Health partnered with NAADAC to make this happen. The event brings together hundreds of behavioral health professionals in Washington, D.C. for a three-day event, filled with sessions and workshops on federal health policy. The last day is spent advocating on Capitol Hill for legislation that will improve resources for addiction treatment and mental health in the communities of those participating.
Sherri Layton, LCDC, CCS and Janet Blackburn, LCSW, LCDC participated in the three-day event. They visited Congressman Lamar Smith at his Washington, D.C. office during their visit and made numerous other legislative visits to support the addiction treatment industry and those that we serve.
